What Is Town Series?

Town Series is six consecutive weeks of racing, with racers competing on teams or as individuals. Teams must be co-ed, and can consist of any mix of 4-6 alpine skiers, tele-skiers, and snowboarders. Races take place on Bobcat (a beginner run), and the course layout, which changes each week, is typically a giant slalom course with 12-18 gates. It is always designed with the novice in mind and is a very low-intimidation atmosphere with absolutely no racing experience required. All racers run the gates twice each Friday – race window is 10am-2pm.  Results will be posted outside of the Bierstube, in the Main Lodge (downstairs) and a QR code will link you to the results website.

Scoring

When it comes to Town Series, having fun is our #1 priority.

The first week of racing determines which category you are placed in, based on gender, equipment (ski, snowboard, or telemark), and race time. Racers compete against others within their category, but also compete as a team. The top 4 placing racers on each team, determine the team’s points for that week. At the end of the season, the team with the lowest combined points is deemed the Town Series Champion of the season.

Are there Prizes?

You bet there are! Prizes are provided to 1st and 2nd place in each division. There are 3 divisions in Town Series, alpine skiing, tele-skiing, and snowboarding, all split up by gender. The two largest divisions – men’s & women’s alpine skiing – are split into 3 classes based on skill level. So no racing experience is needed to win a prize!

On top of that, Meadowlark Brewing provides each racer with one free pint of Harvester Cream Ale every week! They also provide a pair of Custom Elan Skis that are given away to a random contestant at the end of the season. For each day you race, your name will be entered into the drawing for the skis, so the more you show up the better your odds are for winning.

And prizes don’t just go to the fastest racers – there are a variety of ways to walk away with something, including the 5th for 5th prize, where one racer who places 5th in their category, takes home a liquor prize, supplied by Carbon County Coal Wine & Spirits.

Cost?

Individual Registration is $60 and Team Registration (4-6 coed team members) is $295.
