Winter Carnival - March 3, 2018

Winter Carnival is absolutely the best party of the season! Each year we choose a theme, and celebrate with live music, costumes, feats of daring, cardboard crafts, and lots and lots of duct tape.

This year's theme is:  SUPERHEROES

There will be a Public Shuttle Bus available at the Civic Center.
Pick up times: 10 & 10:30 am
Return to town: 2 pm

There will be reserved parking in the upper lot for tailgating.

In addition to our scheduled events, the Red Lodge Chamber will be holding a Winter Carnival Superheroes Costume and Cardboard Classic Parade on Friday, March 2 at 5:30 pm.

Each Winter Carnival we end the night with a Torchlight Parade and Fireworks over the mountain.

This year we are opening up the spots to employees first, and registration will open to the public on the day of the event, starting at 8:15 am. To register, visit the front desk in Admin (upstairs from the Mountain Shop). Each participant will receive a wristband and must sign a waiver. For liability purposes, wristbands may not be transferred to anyone else. Any transferred wristbands may NOT load the lifts.

There are 68 spots available, and 10 alternate spots available in the event of no-shows. Alternates will be selected on a first-come-first-serve basis.

The torchlight parade takes place at 7pm on Winter Carnival and is open to skiers and riders 13yrs of age and older.  Participants must be intermediate to advanced and comfortable skiing/riding 3rd Street, Upper Limited, & Pine Ridge while carrying a torch.  Those that sign-up will be carrying torches attached to bamboo while skiing down the hill. Please assume that this could potentially burn your ski clothes - wear old jackets that you don't mind getting dirty, or potentially burned.

All particpants must meet at the Triple Chair, prepared to load, at 6:00 pm. Late-comers will have their spot given to an alternate.

Please read all rules carefully. They will be strictly enforced!

Crafts are to be constructed of cardboard, glue and tape only.

All participants must sign a liability release and indemnity agreement. Those who have not signed, will not be permitted to race. Participants under the age of 18 are required to have a parent or legal guardian sign the release and agreement for them.

During the event, please be aware of your surroundings including other crafts, participants, and spectators. Participants are responsible for stopping their crafts after crossing the finish line. DO NOT rely on the safety fence at the bottom of the course to stop you; it is there as a last resort safety measure.

Have fun and be safe!
